Rwanda has a large population but limited land. The poverty rate stands at 37 percent, with food scarcity and malnutrition being persistent challenges. Juncao technology, which uses grass instead of timber for mushroom cultivation, helps reduce the need for annual tree clearing.

By the end of 2023, China had established 24 agricultural technology demonstration centers in Africa, resulting in an average increase of 30 to 60 percent in crop production. Over the past decade, China has dispatched more than 2,000 agricultural experts and technicians to over 70 countries and regions, promoting and demonstrating more than 1,500 agricultural technologies to support rural poverty reduction.
