At Mnazi Mmoja Hospital in Tanzania, 53-year-old surgeon, Dr. Baiya Abdullah Rashid, is ready to perform his debut minimally invasive laparoscopic cholecystectomy, guided by his Chinese mentor Dr. Jiang Guoqing. After being trained by 18 Chinese medical teams sent to Zanzibar, Tanzania, he has become the second local doctor who can perform this surgery independently.
