During the press conference of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, officials from Hunan Province shared their experience of cooperating with African countries.
LU SIRUI Beijing "Hunan officials recently highlighted the province's advancements in its collaboration with African nations. In 2019 alone, Hunan's ministers made eight visits to various African countries, resulting in multiple agreements with local governments and businesses. In reciprocation, African leaders, including ambassadors to China, visited Hunan. The province also launched training programs for African journalists. Officials emphasized the significant potential for further cooperation between Hunan and Africa. They pointed to Hunan's expertise in equipment manufacturing, the energy sector, and road and transportation technologies as valuable assets for African industries. Notably, Hunan's hybrid rice, developed by the renowned scientist Yuan Longping, has played a crucial role in addressing hunger challenges across the continent. Hunan has established numerous avenues to enhance these exchanges. Several African nations have set up consulates in Hunan, and direct flights now connect these countries with Changsha, Hunan's capital. Additionally, Hunan's television programs have collaborated with African media to reach audiences in over 23 African countries. In the medical field, Hunan doctors have significantly impacted lives, saving millions and training 9,000 individuals. Looking ahead, officials are committed to expanding opportunities for deeper engagement between Chinese and African youth. Lu Sirui, CGTN, Beijing."
