Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is in China for the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday. Somalia was the first East African country to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, Xi said. Xi also proposed elevating the bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
