Burundian president explores hydrogen collaboration during Foshan visit

01:32

Burundi's President Évariste Ndayishimiye visited south China's Guangdong Province on September 7, exploring opportunities in clean energy collaborations. In Foshan, often referred to as China's "hydrogen city," Ndayishimiye toured advanced facilities, including a waste-to-power treatment plant and a hydrogen technology center. With hydrogen positioned as a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels, it plays a crucial role in China's climate strategy and could help address Africa's growing energy needs as the continent's population and economy expand. As Beijing pledged $50 billion in financial support to Africa over the next three years, Burundi is among the countries set to benefit from a fresh wave of Chinese investment.
