Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with John Podesta, the senior advisor to the U.S. president on international climate policy, in Beijing on September 6. Wang Yi stated that China and the U.S. should aim for mutual success rather than engage in vicious competition. He emphasized that dialogue and cooperation on climate change are not only integral to China-U.S. relations but also crucial for implementing the consensus reached at the San Francisco meeting. Podesta confirmed that the U.S. is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China and cooperate in a constructive manner.
