With the closing ceremony of the Paralympics on Sunday, Paris 2024 president Tony Estanguet has been reflecting on the Games in an interview with China Media Group.
He congratulated Chinese Olympians and Paralympians for their performances and added that bringing the world together is an important legacy of both events.
"First, congratulations for the fantastic results, because your athletes were so impressive, and so strong. It's been really fantastic to see the success, the number of medals of your champions. So, bravo, has a French word," Estanguet said.
"I think the best legacy we wanted to leave is how we can demonstrate sports and the games can bring the world together. I think all the planet enjoyed those games, because it was great images, positive values that were developed and promoted. So that's for me this intangible legacy to all the emotions we all share in the world, thanks to the sport and the games. That's for me the best legacy. And for sure the second legacy is also how these emotions will be transformed into the ability to do sports in the future," he added.
