Bai Lu, or White Dew falls on September 7 this year. It is the 3rd solar term of autumn.
Its poetic name "White Dew" is inspired by the dew, often seen clinging to tree leaves and blades of grass in the early morning, as the weather begins to cool. During this time, the northern hemisphere experiences shorter daylight hours as the sun's direct rays shift southward, causing ground temperatures to drop.

Autumn is always the best season for indulging in delicious food, with various regions in China offering their own unique seasonal delights. In Nanjing, east China’s Jiangsu Province, people savor White Dew tea during this time, known for its distinct mellow flavor.
In southeast China's Fujian Province, longan is a popular treat during the White Dew period. This small, round fruit – with its translucent flesh and reddish-brown skin – is said to resemble dew drops both in shape and color.

Besides delicious food, there is another pleasing joy offered during this season. As the Osmanthus flowers begin to bloom, their delicate fragrance fills the air. With the nights growing cooler and clearer, it becomes a simple yet delightful pleasure to look up at the stars while being surrounded by the sweet scent of these flowers.
