China's lunar exploration: Why choose South Pole? How can AI help?

More than 40 international institutions have signed up to take part in China's International Lunar Research Station (ILRS) Cooperation Initiative since it was launched in 2017. China aims to work with other countries to build a comprehensive research facility on the moon's surface and in lunar orbit. Why did China propose to build ILRS on the South Pole of the moon? How can robots and AI assist with the exploration? CGTN's Liu Jiaxin spoke to Wu Weiren, the chief designer of China's lunar exploration project, to get insights.
