China top Paralympics medal table with 94 gold, 76 silver & 50 bronze

In the concluded Summer Paralympic Games, China collected 94 gold, 76 silver and 50 bronze, topping the medal tally for the sixth consecutive time.

The Paris Paralympics are the 11th that China has participate in, with 284 athletes competing in 302 events across 19 sports. They won gold in 12 sports setting 20 world records in swimming, track and field, weightlifting and cycling.

A total of 54 medals, including 22 gold, 21 silver and 11 bronze were won in swimming. Li Yujie claimed China's first gold in taekwondo. The Chinese boccia team, which participated at the Paralympics for the fourth time won two golds.

China also came away with bronze in wheelchair tennis and a first ever medal in canoeing. The younger generation of athletes enjoyed their fair share of success. 19-year-old swimmer Jiang Yuyan won 7 gold medals, while 23-year-old Guo Jincheng took 4 gold and 2 silver medals in the pool. In badminton, 23-year-old Qu Zimo won 2 golds.

The veterans also showed their strength as weightlifter Cui Zhe won a gold medal for the first time in 5 Games.

Table tennis player Feng Panfeng clinched his 10th Paralympic gold and Yao Juan participated for the seventh time, winning gold in the shot put F64.
