Who on this planet can possibly halt the unstoppable force that is Gu Ailing? It's a question that seems to have stumped every freestyle skiing athlete out there. The 21-year-old sensation once again asserted her superiority at the FIS Freeski Halfpipe World Cup Finals at Cardrona Alpine Resort on Sunday as she claimed the top spot in spectacular fashion.

Despite challenging weather conditions on the final day of the competition, Gu showcased her prowess with high-level maneuvers that dazzled the audience. The Olympic Gold Medalist and X Games winner delivered outstanding performances, scoring over 90 points in all three of her runs. Her final run earned her an impressive 96 points, as she secured the championship title.

This victory holds special significance for Gu, as it marks her 15th World Cup title, making her the first athlete in history to achieve this milestone. Her stellar career includes triumphs in various prestigious events, solidifying her status as the most decorated athlete in freestyle skiing history.

What's truly astounding is that Gu achieved these remarkable feats while battling a lingering shoulder injury. Despite the injury, she continues to compete with resilience, opting for conservative treatment instead of surgery.

In the same event, Gu's compatriot Zhang Kexin, the 2019 Winter Games NZ Freeski Halfpipe World Cup winner, also delivered a standout performance, securing second place with a score of 89.25 points in her third run, surpassing competitors like Beijing 2022 bronze medalist Rachael Karker and Zoe Atkin.
