Perched on hilltops overlooking Yueyang in central China's Hunan Province, the pagodas, statues and buildings of Sheng'an Temple cast a reverent atmosphere over the city. Founded in the early Tang Dynasty (618-907), Sheng'an has the largest Guanyin statue in Hunan Province and 9,999 small golden Buddha statues. Swirling sandalwood smoke and the sounds of chanting draw pilgrims into its peaceful Buddhist cultural atmosphere.
The Mountain Gate, Bell and Drum Towers, the Buddha Chanting Hall and the Guanyin Pavilion are among the features to see at this ancient site.
