The 2024 Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum, under the theme of "Developing New Energy Productivity and Building a Clean and Beautiful World," opened in Taiyuan, north China's Shanxi Province on September 10.
Leaders and guests from government departments, international organizations, research institutes and companies gathered in Taiyuan, the energy capital of the country, to discuss the latest trends in global energy transformation and offer insights on low-carbon development in the energy sector.
This year marks the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico and the 11th anniversary of the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership. As the guest of honor, Mexico participated in multiple activities this year and hosted the Mexico Guest of Honor Forum.
Li Chunlin, deputy director of China's National Development and Reform Commission, said that China has developed the world's largest clean power generation system. As of the end of July, the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation had reached 1.68 billion kilowatts, accounting for 54 percent of the country's total power generation capacity.

"China has created a relatively mature and comprehensive framework of policy making, infrastructure, plus industrial system to promote energy transition and development," Li said. "In particular, China's high-quality and efficient wind and photovoltaic equipment provide favorable conditions for countries around the world to economically and efficiently harness new energy."
The forum is themed around national priorities of green transition and international cooperation. It showcases the achievements of the "Four Reforms and One Cooperation" policy, which focuses on energy consumption, supply, technology and system reforms and international cooperation, and the fruits of Shanxi's energy transition as a pilot for its comprehensive energy reform.
"At this year's energy expo, we, as enterprise representatives, will showcase a series of products including emergency energy storage units, like industrial and commercial energy storage systems, and portable energy storage solutions. The forum serves as a perfect platform for international exchanges, especially for Shanxi, which is aiming to achieve sustainable development and decarbonize the economy," said Shi Shenglei, CEO of City Energy Corporation of China, a high-tech enterprise specializing in the research and development, production, sales and operation of energy storage integrated systems.
During the forum, a series of high-level meetings, exhibitions were held and deals struck. To emphasize the importance of China's revolution-driven energy transition, the forum also hosted energy innovation competitions and exchanges on technological supplies.
