On the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil, the Mare do Amanha Orchestra from the South American country performed a concert at the National Library Concert Hall in Beijing together with Chinese musicians.
Since 2011, sponsored by China's State Grid, the orchestra has expanded rapidly, offering more than 7,000 children from Brazil’s impoverished favelas a respite from violence and drugs through music.
Before the performance, our reporter Yang Yan conducted an exclusive interview with Brazilian Ambassador Marcos Galvão, who stressed that the people of China and Brazil should strive to know each other better. The ambassador said he believes the orchestra will inspire young people back in Brazil with a sense of hope.
