The first China-Latin America and Caribbean States Roundtable on Human Rights was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on September 10, marking the first such institutional exchange and seminar between China and Latin America and the Caribbean.

CGTN Stringer hit the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and spoke to people about their take on the event and expectations for China-Latin America (China-Brazil) relations and future cooperation. Journalist Laura Capriglione said that China is heavily investing in lifting its people out of poverty, improving education and innovating its culture. She thinks that China today is an example of good governance focused on human rights. Lawyer Mariana Rigazzi expressed hope that with the joint efforts of China and Latin American countries, practical solutions can be discussed to bring about real change in society.
