Editor's Note: Zimbabwe and China enjoy a time-honored friendship dating back to Zimbabwe's liberation struggle. Both countries are now carrying out fruitful cooperation in an effort to achieve Zimbabwe's socioeconomic modernization. In this edition of Leaders Talk, CGTN's Zou Yun sat down with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa during his state visit to China, where he attended the 2024 Summit of the Forum of China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held from September 4 to 6 in Beijing, to discuss his expectations following Chinese President Xi Jinping's proposition to elevate bilateral relations between China and all African countries having diplomatic ties with China to the level of strategic relations. "I don't know of any African country where China has not impacted the development of that particular country," he remarked, adding that since the 2018 FOCAC in Beijing, "Africa's transformation has been tremendous." Mnangagwa also praises President Xi's vision, calling it "a wellspring of wisdom."
