Norway has agreed to normalize its practice for exporting defense material and multi-purpose goods for military use to Türkiye, having imposed restrictions in 2019, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

According to Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oncu Keceli, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide told his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan the decision during a phone call.

Expressing satisfaction with the move, Fidan, during the call, said that "such restrictions were not in line with the spirit of alliance," Keceli wrote on social media platform X on Wednesday.

Norway was among the countries that imposed defense industry restrictions against Türkiye in 2019 over Ankara's military operation in northern Syria.
