00:35

Song Tao, head of both the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, met on Thursday in Fuzhou, in southeast China's Fujian Province, with guests from Taiwan to attend a gala event for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. Song said celebrating the festival together shows the love for home and the longing for family reunion of the Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. He said the mainland will stick to the one-China principle and actively promote communication and cooperation that benefit Taiwan compatriots. Andrew Hsia, vice chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) party, said the two sides of the Taiwan Straits have much in common, should appreciate each other, cherish the opportunities for peaceful development, build consensus and form a vision for the future together.
