Spain secured a place in the final phase of the Davis Cup after Carlos Alcaraz and Roberto Bautista Agut won their singles matches against France in Valencia on Friday.

Alcaraz has enjoyed another standout season, winning back-to-back major titles at the French Open and Wimbledon and a silver medal at the Paris Olympics.

The world No. 3, who is competing in the Davis Cup for the first time since September 2022, fended off Humbert 6-3, 6-3 in the second singles match to seal the victory before France scored a consolation win in the doubles match.

Earlier in the day, Davis Cup veteran Bautista Agut overcame Arthur Fils 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 to secure an opening win for Spain.

Six-time Davis Cup champions Spain registered a dominant 3-0 win over the Czech Republic on Wednesday. A win over Australia on Sunday would see them finish at the top of the Group B table.
