The Philippines and China lived peacefully for more than 1,000 years with the South China Sea as "the source of our connection." This was before the Philippines was colonized by the anti-China West, says Philippine scholar Rommel Banlaoi. "As a close neighbor of China, we want to go back to our peaceful coexistence."
