For thousands of years, people have been captivated by the night sky. Through their observations, reflections, and inquiries about the origins of the moon and stars, they have sought to understand the eternal struggle between finite life and the vastness of the universe. The awareness that while life has its limits, knowledge knows no bounds is deeply ingrained in the Chinese nation. Bai Jikai, a senior photojournalist with Beijing Daily, has dedicated the past 30 years to capturing the night sky. He believes that it is always possible to transcend the limitations of time and space, allowing us to perceive the eternal and unchanging nature of the universe.
