It's a vital strategic oasis, the first or last place to get supplies, depending on which way merchants were going as they headed across the desert lands. CGTN anchor Philip Hampsheir visited the city's vibrant night market, which dates back to 1991, when local authorities came up with new ideas to boost the town's economy and provide a fun place for visiting tourists to spend their evenings.
