Xing Xing, a one-armed monkey, has lived with a Buddhist nun and monk for over 15 years in a temple of Daliang Mountain in Ninghai County, Ningbo City, east China's Zhejiang Province. Considering a monkey's lifespan is roughly three to five human years, Xing Xing is likely around 80, nearly as old as her 85-year-old nun caretaker and 78-year-old monk guardian.

Living alongside the temple's two elderly persons has imbued her with human-like qualities. She skillfully shells nuts, mimicking the serene contemplation of her caretakers as she gazes at the distant mountains from her favorite stone basin. Still, her wild nature remains intact. Like many wild animals, she can be defensive if startled. While she visits the temple daily, she prefers to sleep in the mountains, maintaining her connection to the wild.
