A Chinese military spokesperson said on Tuesday that a U.S. P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft passed through the Taiwan Straits and made a public show of it.

Senior Colonel Li Xi, spokesperson for the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, said it has deployed air force planes to monitor the U.S. aircraft's entire passage and handled the issue in accordance with laws and regulations.

Li said the Eastern Theater Command remains on high alert and will resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security, regional peace, and stability.
