Nearly 200 million passenger trips were handled by China's transportation sectors on Monday, the second day of the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, according to data from the Ministry of Transport.

The figure is slightly lower than that of the first day but remains high during this major festival, which typically sees a large number of people traveling by road.

Of the total, China recorded 11.8 million passenger trips by railway and 1.55 million by air on Monday.

Highway traffic accounted for the majority, with over 180 million passenger trips.

The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on September 17 this year.
