This year marks the 70th founding anniversary of the National People's Congress (NPC). The first session of the NPC of the People's Republic of China was held in September 1954, at which the Constitution of the People's Republic of China was adopted, marking the establishment of the system of the Chinese People's Congresses nationwide. The system of the people's congresses is the fundamental political system of China.
