More than 1,000 people, including Hezbollah fighters and medics, were wounded on Tuesday when the pagers they use to communicate exploded across Lebanon, Reuters reported, citing security sources.

A Hezbollah official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that the detonation of the pagers was the "biggest security breach" the group had been subjected to in nearly a year of conflict with Israel.

Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad previously confirmed that hundreds of people were injured across the country, with people being asked to donate blood.

Israel has not commented on the incident as yet amid reports of device infiltration.

Iran's state media has said Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani was injured by one of the blasts.
