Pagers used by Hezbollah were detonated on Wednesday. The Lebanese health ministry has said 37 people were killed and thousands injured. CGTN stringer talked to Ali Omais, director of the Center for Strategic Research and Studies at the Makassed University of Beirut, about the incident to analyze the causes of the explosion and whether the conflict might escalate.

Omais believes that Israel had the pagers modified and inserted explosive materials in them. He said anything is possible at this point as far as the potential for large-scale warfare is concerned.
