Five children were among those killed after an Israeli airstrike targeted a building in the Jamous area of Dahieh, Beirut's southern suburbs, on Friday, according to Lebanon's National News Agency.

The Israeli military earlier said it carried out a "targeted strike" in Beirut but gave no details of the operation. 

Israeli media reports said the strike targeted senior Hezbollah figure Ibrahim Aqil. It is not clear yet whether Aqil was present at the site during the time of the strike.
