McLaren's Lando Norris set the pace in the second practice session at the Singapore Grand Prix on Friday, beating Ferrari pair Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz by small margins. Red Bull's championship leader Max Verstappen was only the 15th fastest.
Norris lapped with a best time of one minute 30.727 seconds, 0.058 faster than Leclerc, and 0.629 clear of last year's winner Sainz. Starting from 15th, Norris finished fourth in the practice.
"The pace is good. I'm feeling good. It was a nice lap. I think we are doing what we expect, to be up at the front with Ferrari," said Norris.
"I was hoping to have a much bigger gap than I had, which means Ferrari are very, very fast. But things are going well so far," he added.
Verstappen, 59 points ahead of closest rival Norris with seven rounds remaining, was 1.294 seconds off the pace with team mate Sergio Perez eighth. The Dutch is now without a win in seven races, as he complained about a lack of grip in low-speed corners.
Perez echoed saying the car lacked balance and it was "not looking great at the moment".
