The inaugural Beijing stop of the Village Super League (VSL) Belt and Road Invitational, which was jointly held alongside a local football festival, officially wrapped up in front of a festive crowd at the Fengtai Sports Center in Beijing.
The two-day competition came to an end, with the closing ceremony in the Chinese capital celebrating grassroots football culture. The performances during breaks in the action showcased the diversity of ethnic minority culture.
Saturday's opener saw Shandong club Zibo Fenghuo defeat Hebei's Xianghe United 4-2, before Guizhou side Rongjiang Luohanguo thrashed home team Wuli Xinfeng 6-2. This sent the two squads into Sunday's final, where Luohanguo beat Fenghuo 1-0 to cap off the event's first-ever Beijing edition.
"Beijing is the first stop of the VSL's Belt and Road Tour, and in the future, we will visit more cities, spreading the joy of the VSL, and sharing our outstanding traditional Chinese culture further through this event," VSL Communications Director Ouyang Zhangwei said.
