Death toll rises to 38 in Iran's coal mine blast

The death toll from a gas explosion in a coal mine in Iran's South Khorasan Province has risen to 38, with 14 people remaining missing, local media reported on Monday citing the governor. 

The explosion occurred at 9 p.m. on Saturday and was caused by a methane gas explosion in two blocks, B and C, of the privately owned mine operated by the Madanjoo company, according to Iran's state media. 

There were 69 workers in the blocks at the time of the explosion
