Human rights seminar held in Beijing to elaborate on CPC plenum guiding principles

The China Society for Human Rights Studies held a seminar in Beijing on Tuesday on the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and its implications for the comprehensive development of protection and promotion of human rights.

Participants emphasized that the plenary session, held at a crucial time in advancing China's modernization and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, laid out a comprehensive blueprint for further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization. The resolution put forward more than 300 reform measures spanning sectors such as the economy, culture and ecology, as it serves as both a roadmap for national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization and a declaration for advancing human rights.

The seminar attendees noted that the plenary session focuses on enhancing the protection of economic, social and cultural rights, ensuring that all citizens equally enjoy these rights through a series of reform initiatives. They highlighted China's efforts to develop "whole-process people's democracy," which presents a Chinese approach to safeguarding civil and political rights and enriches global human rights discourse.

Additionally, the session is committed to safeguarding the rights of women, children, the elderly and people with disabilities, ensuring their rights are better protected through targeted reforms, seminar attendees agreed.

Participants also underscored the significance of promoting environmental rights, encapsulated by China's core concept in the country's pursuit of ecological progress that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets."

Moreover, the seminar addressed the strengthening of legal guarantees for human rights, emphasizing the role of sound governance and effective laws in upholding these rights. Participants further pointed out China's contributions to global human rights governance, providing Chinese wisdom and solutions for the reform and improvement of global governance systems, including those related to human rights.
