China has installed over 4 million 5G base stations

Peng Yuhan

The total number of 5G base stations in China reached 4.04 million as of the end of August, accounting for 32.1 percent of all mobile base stations, according to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The number of 5G mobile phone users reached 966 million, comprising 54.3 percent of the total mobile phone users.

China's network service capabilities have been continuously upgraded, expanding the coverage of high-speed internet to every city, 5G to every rural town, and broadband connection to every village.

As the user base grows and the applications of these services diversify, the integration of networks into social life is becoming deeper and broader, empowering the digital transformation of the economy.

An official from MIIT said that China will adhere to the principle of moderate advancement, continue to strengthen the construction of network infrastructure and expand the scale of 5G applications, aiming to make the 5G network better serve society and the daily lives of the public.
