One of the hottest places on Earth, Turpan City in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is turning its scorching temperatures into an asset.

With average annual sunlight exceeding 3,200 hours and ground temperatures reaching 70 degrees Celsius in summer, Turpan has leveraged its extreme climate to become a premier testing site for high-temperature vehicle trials.

Since the launch of its testing base in 2023, over 400 cars have undergone rigorous heat trials, establishing Turpan as a national hub for extreme environment testing.

In 2020, the C919 aircraft developed by China carried out high-temperature and dry heat tests in Turpan and collected the performance data of the aircraft in the test, which will be used as the relevant data support for the C919 to obtain the airworthiness certificate.

Moreover, the region's unique conditions are also attracting partnerships with agricultural and aviation research institutes, fueling high-quality growth in Turpan's economy.
