At an emergency UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday, Secretary-General António Guterres called for urgent steps to prevent Lebanon from becoming "another Gaza." Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati reported civilian casualties, while Israel defended its right to respond to attacks. Slovenia's Deputy Prime Minister Tanja Fajon urged both sides to halt the violence.
