Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday called on China and Nepal to promote collaboration, such as the Belt and Road cooperation, to yield more fruits and benefit the people of the two countries.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Wang said China has always placed Nepal in a significant position in its neighborhood diplomacy and is committed to building a closer China-Nepal community with a shared future.
China will, as always, support Nepal in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, he said, expressing the hope that Nepal will find a development path suited to its national conditions.
Wang appreciated Nepal's reaffirmation that it will not allow any force to use Nepal's territory to engage in anti-China activities.
He said China is ready to plan a series of activities with Nepal to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
For his part, Oli said the Nepali government, all political parties and its people all support Nepal-China friendship, firmly adhere to the one-China policy, and will not allow anyone or any force to use its territory to engage in anti-China activities.
Nepal is committed to strengthening cooperation with China, and jointly building a Nepal-China community with a shared future, he said.
