A paramilitary attack on a market in the Sudanese city of El-Fasher killed 18 people, AFP reported on Friday, citing a medical source. 

"We received last night at the hospital 18 dead," some of them burned and others killed with severe shrapnel injuries, the source at El-Fasher Teaching Hospital told AFP, requesting anonymity for their own protection.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has not responded to the report yet.

Since April 15, 2023, Sudan has been engulfed in a deadly conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF, resulting in at least 16,650 deaths. According to the latest UN data, approximately 10.7 million people are internally displaced in Sudan, with about 2.2 million seeking refuge in neighboring countries.
