Al Nassr defeated Al Wehda 2-0 at home on Friday to secure their third win in five games in the 2024-25 Saudi Pro League season, rising to No. 3 on the table.
The game was one-sided in the first half for Al Nassr. Wesley Ribeiro hit the woodwork for the hosts, then in the 40th minute, Ângelo Gabriel turned a throughball by Sadio Mane into their first goal.
Al Wehda managed to put up some resistance during the second half. Juninho Bacuna's shot was blocked by Al Nassr's goalkeeper Bento. However, the visitors soon took another blow when Mohamed Al Makahasi pulled down Sultan Al Ghannam in the box in the 56th minute and the home team were awarded a penalty.
Cristiano Ronaldo cannoned the ball into the goal, extending Al Nassr's lead to two. Mane then netted netted in the 81st minute, but it was ruled out due to Ronaldo straying offside in the build-up.
Al Wehda avoided a third goal, but had to play with 10 men in the final minutes of the game after Waleed Bakhashwain received his second yellow card for dissent in the 86th minute.
Al Nassr are currently one point behind top-two Al Ittihad and Al Hilal.
