Education programs from Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria win Confucius Prize

Three educational programs were honored with this year's UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy on September 27 in Qufu City, Shandong Province, the birthplace of Confucius. Stefania Giannini, assistant director-general for education at UNESCO, presented the 2024 UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy to three outstanding literacy programs from Egypt, Indonesia and Nigeria.

Established in 2005, the Confucius Prize recognizes individuals, governments and NGOs for their efforts to improve literacy rates. Qufu is also hosting the 2024 China International Confucius Cultural Festival from September 27 to October 7, featuring a wide range of cultural activities.
