In the early hours of Saturday, CGTN reporter Evangelo Sipsas heard an explosion that seemed to have hit a section of the hotel where he was staying in the southern city of Tyre, Lebanon. The CGTN team was transferred to a safe part of the hotel. It was reported that the Rest House Tyre hotel was accommodating a UN convoy and many foreign journalists covering the conflict in southern Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces later announced that it carried out a wave of air strikes against Hezbollah targets in the coastal city.
