Beatrix Gracella and Alberta Prabarini, representatives of the Sokola Institute in Indonesia, which won the 2024 UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy, spoke about their program at the opening ceremony of the 2024 China International Confucius Culture Festival and the 19th UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy awards ceremony in Qufu City, east China's Shandong Province, on September 27. The "Sokola Literacy Education for Indigenous Indonesians" program, run by the Sokola Institute, empowers indigenous communities with literacy and advocacy skills. Since its inception, it has educated 1,000 learners, including girls and women.
