Inaugural WDSF World Championship Breaking Youth takes place in Wuxi

The inaugural edition of the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) World Championship Breaking Youth event is underway in Wuxi, east China's Jiangsu Province, with some of the best young b-boys and b-girls from around the globe competing in head-to-head battles.

China's Liu Qingyi (B-Girl 671), who earned bronze in breaking at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, received a special invitation to perform at the Opening Ceremony in Wuxi. 228 athletes from 42 nations and regions registered for the event.

In a major departure from from the senior version of the World Championships, the participants in this edition are aged between 14 and 18, with the creativity of the young breakers on full display.

The first day of competition produced the top 16 in each division, with 10 boys and 6 girls from China advancing successfully. The new event is aimed at providing youths with a place to chase their breakdancing dreams while vying for the title of world champion.
