Special cultural events celebrating the upcoming 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on October 1 were held in Ottawa, the capital of Canada last Wednesday.
"Written in the Sky: My China Story" is a series of cultural events launched by China Media Group (CMG) in March 2024 to gather individual stories related to China from around the world.
Wang Di, ambassador of China to Canada, said next year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership, adding that more Canadian friends are welcome to go to China to experience the new era of the country.
Sarah Kutulakos, executive director of Canada-China Business Council, said she has been working and living in China for nearly 30 years, made many Chinese friends, felt the development of China's changes and vitality, and over the years she has been committed to promoting Canada-China friendly exchanges. She added that the unity and cooperation between Canada and China is a general trend, and the friendship between the two peoples will continue to inject new momentum into the development of the relationship between Canada and China.
Christopher Black, an international criminal and human rights lawyer, said Chinese people have created a miracle of rapid economic and social development in 75 years. China's development experience has been widely noted and recognized by the international community and has served as a model for other countries.
Dan Donovan, chief editor of Ottawa Life Magazine, said the best way to get to know China is to visit China, for example, to experience its high-speed railway and meet its hospitable people. China is Canada's second-largest trading partner, and the two countries should realize mutual benefits through friendly cooperation.
