Lebanon's Hezbollah issued a statement confirming that its leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli air strike on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut on September 27. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said at a press conference on September 29 that the number of Lebanese displaced by Israeli attacks could reach one million.
CGTN Stringer spoke to residents in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon to ask them about Nasrallah's death and the current situation. Resident Mahmoud Al-Shamiya said Nasrallah's death was a "very big loss" for the Lebanese people. Another resident, Bilal Dimassi, said the country is in shock. "Nobody knows where the war is heading," he said.
