Top seed Wang Chuqin of China swept Hiroto Shinozuka of Japan 11-6, 11-3, 11-6 in the men's singles first-round match at the World Table Tennis (WTT) China Smash in Beijing on Sunday.

It took Wang Chu only 22 minutes to pocket the victory. He will face Anders Lind of Denmark next.

"It's our first match, so I guess neither of us was used to how the other played," Wang told reporters after the match. "I had prepared well and did well from the beginning."

"I think it will be one of the world's greatest tournaments wherever you hold it in China, not to mention in Beijing," he added. "The facility and other prospects, including security, all produced an excellent match-playing experience."

The other three Chinese players who competed in the men's singles event on Sunday also advanced. Xue Fei beat Edward Ly of Canada 11-3,11-6, 11-6; sixth-seeded Lin Shidong came back to defeat Nicolas Burgos of Chile 7-11, 11-3, 11-3, 11-4. Xue and Lin will face each other in their next match.

China's Xiang Peng knocked out Nicholas Lum of Australia 11-6, 11-3, 11-6. His next opponent will be No. 16 seed Omar Assar of Egypt.

Eighth-seeded Tomokazu Harimoto of Japan beat Wong Chun-ting of China’s Hong Kong 11-6, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9. No. 11 seed Truls Moregard of Sweden defeated Maharu Yoshimura of Japan 12-10, 12-10, 11-7. He will play another Japanese opponent, Sora Matsushima next.
