The opening ceremony of the 2024 China University Aircraft Design Competition was held on Sunday in Dingzhou City, north China's Hebei Province.

Established by the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the competition, which runs until October 4, aims to foster innovation in aviation science and technology at universities, enhance students' independent innovation and engineering practice skills, and cultivate reserve talent for the aviation and national defense industries.

Over 2,000 contestants from over 100 universities and research institutes are participating, each team designing and building their aircraft from scratch. Their creations will undergo scaled flight verifications to test their performance.

CGTN Digital reporter Guo Meiping attended the spectacular air show at the opening ceremony and spoke with contestants about their aircraft for the upcoming competition. Let's explore the excitement of aviation science and technology innovation!
