Health Talk: Expert tips for easy self-assessment on hair loss

01:26

How much hair loss is normal? We invited a dermatologist to share an easy way to estimate your hair loss and say goodbye to hair loss anxiety.

"It's normal to lose up to 100 strands a day," Liu Ling, professor at Xijing Hospital, Air Force Medical University, told CGTN in an exclusive interview. "You can get a rough estimate when you shampoo."

If you only see 20 to 30 strands during shampoo, your total hair loss is probably around 50 to 60 strands, which is a normal number that should give you no anxiety, according to Professor Liu.

(Liu worked at Xijing Hospital when being interviewed. She works at Tangdu Hospital under the same university by the time of publishing. Gao Yuxin and Peng Yuhan contributed to the story.)
