Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) confirmed that it had targeted Israel with dozens of ballistic missiles on Tuesday evening, Iran's state-run IRIB TV reported.

The IRGC said the attacks were in retaliation of Israel's assassination of key figures and its intensifying "malicious acts" against the Lebanese and Palestinian people, backed by the U.S.

The Israeli military said its air defenses were effective in thwarting the attacks, but an investigation is underway into the fatalities.

Iran has warned that any Israeli retaliation would result in further "crushing and destructive" attacks.
