The Valdai International Debating Club on Wednesday held a discussion in Moscow focusing on the situation in the Middle East. Amal Abou Zeid, a former advisor to the President of Lebanon on Russian affairs, participated in the discussion online. He believed that the crisis in the Middle East is related to the tension between Ukraine and Russia, and its root cause is that the United States and NATO impose wars and atrocities on other countries out of their own interests. Zeid stressed that although Lebanon is under attack, the Western community is turning a deaf ear.
In addition, he expressed concern that the continued spread of the war could trigger a third world war, believing that such a war will not only cause great damage to the Middle East region, but also bring unprecedented risks to world peace.
